EasyWP: WordPress Migration tool
The EasyWP WordPress Migration Tool is a feature that allows you to quickly and easily move your WordPress website to our Managed WordPress hosting platform. It’s designed as a simple, self-service option that doesn't require advanced technical skills. You can also migrate large websites or those with complex configurations — without the limitations of manual transfers or third-party plugins.
Press the Set up WordPress button next to the desired subscription. The migration process is integrated into the setup flow.
Note: If you want to migrate your website to an EasyWP subscription that already has a website set up, you’ll first need to remove the existing site. Then, start the setup process again.
During the first step, you will have two options:
1. Create a new website - start a new WordPress website from scratch.
2. Migrate your WordPress website - launch the EasyWP WordPress Migration tool to move your site in simple steps.
Hit the plus + icon to check what you need to migrate to EasyWP.
To proceed with the migration, you will be provided with the existing migration requirements and restrictions that need to be checked, as displayed below:
Note: Do not change your domain’s nameservers during the migration. The domain must remain pointed to your current (origin) hosting for the migration to succeed.
To initiate the automatic migration process, fill in the fields with the current website address URL, current WordPress admin username, and current WordPress password.
Note: If you enter invalid website credentials, you will receive the following error:
In the next step, choose a domain name for your WordPress website. There are three options:
1. Domain from EasyWP - a free domain from EasyWP. The website will be accessible via a Temporary URL (e.g. blog-user.ewp.live where blog is the name of the site). In our example, we will use this option.
Note: If you do not have a domain name registered with Namecheap, you can start with a temporary domain and change the domain for your subscription later.
2. Your Domain on Namecheap - one of your domain names registered with Namecheap can be used. Select the relevant domain from the dropdown menu and hit Continue.
Note: If you'd like to immediately use an external domain with EasyWP (different from the one used by the website you're migrating), point it to our FreeDNS. Once pointed, the domain will become available in the "Your Domain on Namecheap" dropdown menu.
3. Domain on other provider - you can connect the necessary external domain after the website is created:
After selecting the domain, review the details and click Continue to start the migration:
The migration process may take up to 24 hours. You can check the status of the migration in your EasyWP Dashboard:
Once completed, the migrated site will appear under your subscription in the EasyWP dashboard:
You may see the error message “We couldn’t migrate the website” if:
You're trying to migrate the website from WordPress.com hosting. For now, it is not possible to migrate websites from WordPress.com because they use a different kind of authentication.
The source site uses Captcha/Math challenges for login.
A security Jetpack plugin is installed that prevents access.
To commence migration, you should remove these features or plugins.
